campaigns from Canada\u2019s advertising and communications community took centre stage, the industry paused to pay tribute to a woman whose efforts have helped cultivate consumer trust in advertising.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.acaweb.ca\/en\/media-releases\/linda-nagel-to-receive-aca-gold-medal\/\">Linda Nagel<\/a>, outgoing President and CEO of Advertising Standards Canada, received the 2016 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.acaweb.ca\/en\/education-and-events\/aca-gold-medal-award-2016\/\">ACA Gold Medal<\/a> June 2 at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketingmag.ca\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Marketing Magazine<\/a>\u2019s Marketing Awards gala at The Carlu.<\/p>\n<p>ACA President and CEO Ron Lund, who presented Nagel the medal and a certificate, spoke to the important role Nagel had played in establishing a strong self-regulatory system.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks to Linda\u2019s efforts, ASC is trusted by the industry, government and, most importantly, consumers,\u201d Lund said. \u201cCanada has a self-regulatory regime that is heralded around the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Others praised Nagel with a congratulatory video played during the gala.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\">\n<p>Nagel briefly addressed the gathering of mostly creative agencies, thanking them for their continued support of ASC.<\/p>\n<p>The ACA Gold Medal, first awarded in 1941, was the first prize handed out on a night when 20 medals were presented to the agencies with the best work over the past year.<\/p>\n<p>Rethink was the most awarded creative shop at the show, receiving five Gold M trophies, in addition to seven silver and 10 bronze.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_17355\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-17355\" style=\"width: 600px\"
